Valtrex Side Effects

Why is this medication prescribed?
Valtrex is an antiviral medication that is used to treat infections with herpes zoster, herpes simplex genitalis, and herpes labialis in adults and children. Valacyclovir will not cure herpes, but it can lessen the symptoms of the infection.

Before taking Valtrex
To make sure you can safely take Valtrex, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:
kidney disease;
liver disease;
diabetes;
allergic to any other medications;
pregnant or plan to become pregnant;

Valtrex side effects:

Gastrointestinal
Gastrointestinal side effects have included abdominal pain (7%-12%), vomiting (in up to 5 percent), nausea (in up to 12 percent), diarrhea, anorexia.

Nervous system
Nervous system side effects have included dizziness (in up to 5 percent), headache (in up to 37 percent), experience, seizures.

Respiratory
Respiratory side effects have included nasopharyngitis (in up to 15 percent) and upper respiratory tract infection (9%).

Musculoskeletal
Musculoskeletal side effects have included arthralgia (in up to 5 percent).

Genitourinary
Genitourinary side effects have included dysmenorrhea (in up to 7 percent).

Dermatologic
Dermatologic side effects have included rash (5%-8%).

What other information should I know?
Colchicine is very effective as part of a combination package where it is used to inhibit inflammation backed by second and third line attack that relieves inflammation then blocks pain. Be careful if you are being treated for any other health problem, or if you are taking supplements. There are many medicines that can react badly with colchicine, so please double-check with your doctor and pharmacist before combining colchicine with any other treatment. It is also better to avoid this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
