What is Mucinex used for?
Mucinex is an over the counter cough medication that helps to break up chest congestion. Mucinex also is used to  treat nasal and sinus congestion. Mucinex is effective against coughs that produce congestion and mucus accumulation in the upper respiratory tract.

Before Using Mucinex

Tell your doctor if you have a chronic cough that is caused by asthma, smoking or emphysema
Tell your doctor if you have a cough that produces a lot of mucous
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

Mucinex side effects:

Dizziness
Vomiting
Headache
Upset stomach
Nausea
Difficulty breathing
Tightness in the chest
Rash

What other information should I know?
Mucinex is taken orally on a standard schedule of every 12 hours, under the supervision of a doctor.
Do not use this medication in children under 12 years old.
If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor.
