Lipitor Side Effects

Why is this medication prescribed?
Lipitor is used to treat high cholesterol, and to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, or other risk factors. It belongs to a class of drugs referred to as statins, which includes lovastatin (Mevacor), simvastatin, (Zocor), fluvastatin (Lescol), and pravastatin (Pravachol) and rosuvastatin (Crestor).

Before taking Lipitor
To make sure you can safely take Lipitor, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:
if you areallergic to acyclovir or valacyclovir (Valtrex)
if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
if you have kidney disease
if you have liver disease
if you have muscle pain or weakness
if you already have 10 years old

Lipitor side effects:

Digestive System
Digestive System side effects have included vomiting, nausea, dry mouth, enteritis, stomach ulcer, ulcerative stomatitis, biliary pain.

Musculoskeletal System
Musculoskeletal System side effects have included bursitis, myositis, myasthenia, arthritis.

Urogenital System
Urogenital System side effects have included hematuria, urinary tract infection, urinary urgency, impotence, urinary incontinence, dysuria.

Respiratory System
Respiratory System side effects have included dyspnea, rhinitis, asthma, pneumonia.

Cardiovascular System
Cardiovascular System side effects have included vasodilatation, angina pectoris, hypertension, syncope, palpitation.

Other
Other side effects have included dry eyes, parosmia, tinnitus, weight gain, thrombocytopenia, anemia.

What other information should I know?
Colchicine is very effective as part of a combination package where it is used to inhibit inflammation backed by second and third line attack that relieves inflammation then blocks pain. Be careful if you are being treated for any other health problem, or if you are taking supplements. There are many medicines that can react badly with colchicine, so please double-check with your doctor and pharmacist before combining colchicine with any other treatment. It is also better to avoid this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
