What is Prednisone?
Prednisone is an anti-inflammatory or an immunosuppressant medication that used to treat certain inflammatory diseases such as allergic disorders, skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or breathing disorders. Prednisone is also prescribed to reduce tumors and to help treat other brain-related illnesses.

What other drugs will affect Prednisone?
Carbamazepine
Zoloft
Cyclosporine
Ketoconazole
Posaconazole
Fosphenytoin
Oxcarbazepine
Phenobarbital
HIV or AIDS medicine
Insulin or diabetes medications

Before taking prednisone
To make sure you can safely take prednisone, tell your doctor:
if you are allergic to prednisone
if you have a fungal infection anywhere in your body
if you have liver disease or kidney diseas
if you have diabetes
if you have osteoporosis
if you have a thyroid disorder
if you have depression or mental illness
if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
if you are having surgery

Common side effects of prednisone
Call your doctor at once if you have:
Headache
Dizziness
Vomiting
Nausea
Blurred vision
Shortness of breath
Swelling
Chest pain
Abdominal pain
Increased blood sugar
Insomnia
Increased sweating
Weight gain
Weak muscles
Increased thirst
Irregular menstrual periods
Anxiety
Frequent urination
Seizure
Dry skin
Uneven heartbeats
Hives

Warnings
You should keep the medication stored in the air-tight container that do not let anyone else take your medication, Keep it away from children.
If you high-dose and prolonged use of prednisone may cause adrenal glands and osteoporosis.
Prednisone has also been shown to possibly increases the risk of certain infections and decreases the effectiveness of vaccines and antibiotics.
