Aricept Side Effects

What is Aricept?
Aricept is used to treat the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.  It works by preventing the breakdown of a chemical called acetylcholine. Aricept is a cholinesterase inhibitor, it may improve memory, awareness, and the ability to function that works by restoring the balance of natural substances (neurotransmitters) in the brain.

How to use Aricept Oral?
Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily just before bedtime. If you experience sleep problems (insomnia), talk to your doctor about switching to a morning dose.

Before using Aricept

Stop using aricept and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
heart rhythm disorder.
enlarged prostate.
asthma.
kidney disease.
cirrhosiss or other liver disease.
a history of stomach ulcers.
If you have any of these conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take Aricept.

Aricept side effects:

Headache (in up to 9%)
Dizziness (in up to 8%)
Vomiting
Nausea
Diarrhea
Fainting
Somnolence (in up to 2%)
Depression (in up to 3%)
Confusion (2% to 4%)
Dysuria
Back pain (in up to 4%)
Eczema (greater than 1% to less than or equal to 4%)
Hyperlipemia (in up to 2%)
Decreased hearing
Dyspnea
Ear buzzing
Weight loss

Warning
There are several drug interactions that can be dangerous for patients on Aricept. The most common include Aspirin, Cymbalta, Lexapro, and Seroquel. Make sure your doctor is aware of any medications that you are taking regularly to avoid potential issues.
